Now that my new bed frame and mattress is here, my apartment is almost complete! I’m looking for sofa cushions in beige, powder/icy pink and fur cushions cover, let me know if you’re selling it or you know where else I can get it from!
Talking about mattress, after so long… I finally made my boyfriend agreed onto changing a new mattress. His old mattress was shipped from US which cost about $6000++? It’s comfortable and soft, however after 4 years+ the mattress got old and dirty – as pepper has a habit of puking on the bed.
No pictures cause I’m ashamed of how old and dirty the mattress look.
When do you know it’s time to change your bed?
- (1) You wake up with stiffness, numbness, or aches ✓
- (2) You get a better night’s sleep anywhere but in bed ✓
- (3) Your mattress shows visible signs of soggy and lumpy ✓
I knows when it’s time get a new bed however my BF couldn’t part with it…
But after I told him the reason we woke up feeling tired with sore was because the bed isn’t providing adequate support and getting good sleep will improve our mood and health. Happy Miyake means less stress for him right?
This time round I told him that we should pay a maximum $4000 for a mattress. And tbh, the max amount I spent on a mattress before is only around $3000. I don’t get the whole idea of buying a whopping $6000 – $10,000 mattress and you’ll have to throw it away after 4-6 years of sleeping it. Well, maybe it’s just me but I just feel that it shouldn’t be too expensive or else you’ll have a hard time getting rid of it next time.
A comfortable bed that allows you to have a good sleep is enough, it’s a bitter pill to swallow but I feel that big brands mattress cost so much is because gimmicks are used to raise the price of the mattresses to get them into luxury market, and for those who are unaware you’re paying for the brand. If you genuinely love the brands and hardcore support them, okay fine! But if you agreed with what I said, I would advice you to get a affordable plus comfy mattress and use the saved money to splurge on bedsheets, let’s face it, those bedsheets are the ones that really make the magic happen.
There’s Christmas sale everywhere now, I just got a new bedsheet from Isetan less than $500 still got one free lavender diffuser some more, lol! No regrets! Can’t believe by the fact that those IKEA bedsheets that I’ve been sleeping on is actually so rough, no wonder my mom always asked me if I need her to get me some new sheets.
Yet I still told her no it’s okay cause those IKEA ones that I got are mostly plain in white, which suit my apartment more. Partly also cause I scare my mom will choose those with flower prints on it for me… LOL GG!
Fyi, I am not judging IKEA stuffs okay! Majority of my furniture is from IKEA too.

I remembered Qiu blogged about getting a new mattress here, hence I went to search for reviews on Tilam King and I have a few concerns about it so I decided to make a trip down with my BF to their showroom when we are free to see it for ourself. To couples who are intending to get a new mattress, it’s a wise choice to feel and choose the bed together as you wouldn’t want to spent a big sum of money and end up regretting it because the bed is not suitable to one of you.

We got to speak with the founder Tony, who is a straightforward and friendly person. He attend to us and answered all our concerns as he prefer people to understand what they are paying for before purchasing. We also asked him for advices such as which series is suitable for side sleepers and we are surprised when he told us that TilamKing does mattress customisation for their customers!

Feel like a sua gu cause I got no idea that you can actually customise your bed!
But I recalled Tony saying that customising a bed will take about two weeks time or somewhere around there, lol.

Our picked from Tilam King is their Premiere Series which is made of memory foam!
Surprisingly the both of us have the same taste when it comes to mattress, but funny things is I’ve always hated memory foam because of how firm it is yet our choice is Premiere Series. As we love how it moulds to our body like a snuggle!
Just in cased you’re wondering, our mattress and bed frame took 2 weeks to come and it didn’t take us long to adjust to our memory foam mattress. I was told by my BF that I tends to toss and turn around a lot when I sleep which is kinda annoying on the previous bed. But he found out that this memory foam mattress actually absorb my movement!

My place is a studio apartment and there’s on storeroom, so my parents suggested me to get a bed frame that has a secret compartment/storage underneath it, which Tilam King is selling it at $800+ for king size ones.
Sorry I threw away the receipt after they delivered it to us, but the price is around there!

I’ve never seen a protector that covers the side like this, who ever that invent this is a genius. My protector always slide off last time because as you use it longer, the rubber will lose the elasticity and you’ll have to get a new one AGAIN.
Alright, I’ll update about my mattress soon. Meanwhile if you’re intending to get a new mattress, you might want to check out their showroom. See see only also wouldn’t die, like it then buy. Take your time to think about it, cause most importantly is YOU have to like how it feel. So go ahead and shamelessly lie down like what I did and decide after that!
